manipulating photos

In this class you will learn to manipulate, change and create new photographs. Following an introduction to photography of the past and present, the class will learn techniques for taking better photographs with a digital camera using the examples of well known photographers.

The class will then shift to using their photographs to create art. You will import the photographs from your camera into iPhoto, using it as a program to view, store and organize your photos. From iPhoto you will bring your photos into the photo manipulation program, Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0. The class will create a variety of images and assignments, some based on the work of contemporary artists, using differents tools and techniques. Each assignment will build on the tools and techniques learned in the previous assignment.
